A Fuller Picture with CBCT
The structures of your mouth are unlike any other in your body. Your jaws open and close to allow you to eat, laugh, and speak, while your teeth and tongue work together to allow you to bite, chew, and swallow the food you love to eat.
Along with restoring your smile’s fullness and beauty, the goal of any restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatment is to ensure all the structures of your mouth can work together harmoniously. So when it comes to planning your restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments, Dr. Brad captures sharp 3D images of your mouth and teeth with CBCT.
Formally known as cone beam computed tomography, CBCT is a digital X-ray machine that rotates around your head with a cone-shaped X-ray beam. A single CBCT scan produces hundreds of 3D images of your teeth, bones, soft tissue, and neural pathways, enabling your dentist to chart the best course for your restorative or cosmetic dentistry treatment. Along with providing a fast, safe, and non-invasive experience, CBCT helps ensure you get the smile outcomes you deserve.
Three-dimensional digital X-rays have many applications, from restorative therapies to cosmetic treatments to orthodontic care. In addition to providing your dentist with precise in-depth images, 3D digital X-rays provide you with a safe, non-invasive, and time-efficient diagnostic experience.
The Full Picture
At Williams Dental & Orthodontics, we have integrated an array of digital technologies to support a safe and positive dental experience. Along with allowing us to accurately diagnose and plan your restorative and cosmetic dentistry treatments, our digital imaging technology allows you to engage with your oral health and treatment planning.
Though they haven’t always been digital, X-rays have long been an essential diagnostic tool in both dentistry and medicine. By capturing images of the insides of your teeth, X-rays enable your dentist to detect and diagnose dental issues, like cavities, fractures, and impacted teeth.
For your most positive dental experience, Williams Dental & Orthodontics has fully integrated digital X-rays. Digital X-rays use even less radiation than the low dose of traditional X-rays. Along with capturing more detail, digital X-rays can be easily archived for future reference and comparison.
Though X-rays have been safely used for decades, digital X-rays have increased your safety through an even smaller dose of ionizing radiation. Your dental team will take extra steps to minimize exposure, such as providing you with a protective covering or bib. If you are a woman who is pregnant or believe you are pregnant, notify your dental team, as X-rays during pregnancy are not recommended.
Intraoral cameras allow Dr. Brad to show you your teeth and the inside of your mouth through the eyes of a dentist in real time. By providing you with a fuller understanding of your oral health needs and treatment possibilities, the sharp digital images created by an intraoral camera enable you to collaborate with your dentist and make informed decisions about your treatment.
Like digital X-rays, the high-resolution images captured by our intraoral camera create a record that can be easily stored and reviewed.
Dr. Brad uses digital photography to capture your orthodontic, cosmetic, or restorative treatment journey. These high-resolution images are easy to archive and allow you to see and celebrate how your smile has changed to achieve your goals through cosmetic and restorative dentistry or orthodontics.
